Sale of ‘Wizard’ shop’s contents benefits Alna nonprofit
After 65 years in the antiques business, Richard Plunkett, “The Wizard of Odds & Ends,” died late last year, leaving the contents of his beloved shop in Alna’s Head Tide District to Historic Alna, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the maintenance, preservation and restoration of historic buildings in the town of Alna. Historic Alna will be holding a liquidation sale on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic shop and barn at 45 Head Tide Road, just a stone’s throw from Head Tide Dam.
With a large and diverse inventory, and all items priced at least 50% below marked prices, dealers, collectors and bargain hunters alike are all sure to find must-have treasures. Available items (cash or checks only) include early country pieces and period mahogany furniture, vintage collectible pieces, toys, china, etc. While shoppers can organize a fun-filled day around their visit to the shop with a stop at Head Tide Dam, a ride on Alna’s historic WW&F narrow-gauge railway, or an always fantastic meal at the Alna Store, the best selection will be available to those who arrive early. All sales proceeds benefit Historic Alna.
