Mike Leonard photoTonight, Nov. 14 is Community Night at Gardens Aglow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens from 4 to 9 p.m.
Boothbay Register photographer Steve Edwards and contributing photographer Mike Leonard provided these photos of this year’s display taken during Media Night Nov. 13.
The 11th annual Gardens Aglow will be available Nov. 15 through Jan. 3 Thursday through Sunday and select Wednesdays. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
For Community Night, a valid ID that demonstrates residency in Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, or Southport is required. First responders and public school staff who work on the peninsula are also welcome. No advanced registration is needed.
Boothbay Region Fire Auxiliary will be hosting its third annual drive thru event before Cmmunity Night from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Boothbay Fire Department. Donations for the food will be gratefully accepted.
Also, the BRHS Interact Club, Community Resource Council and Healthy Lincoln County Youth Advisory Board will be collecting canned food items or donations at CMBG to support CRC’s Community Fridge.
According to CMBG, this year's theme, "Nature in Motion," will excite guests as they discover glowing versions of native Maine critters hidden throughout the route. In addition to the popular lit sculptures, the Gardens have invited Portland-based PORTL& to create immersive nature installations in two locations.
“This year, we’ll use more than 750,000 energy-efficient LED lights. When laid end-to-end would be the distance from Boothbay to South Portland,” according to CMBG.
Hot food and beverages will be available for purchase in the Gardens’ Cafe and from three food trucks, Fields Fields Blueberries and Sweet and Salty Popcorn, and welcome for the first time, Shannon’s Unshelled.
