Seahawks keep pace at 2 weekend meets
The Boothbay Region High School indoor track team kept busy this past week with two meets. The Seahawks earned six podium placements at their regular-season meet in Gorham Jan. 16. They returned to the University of Southern Maine on the 19th for the Marathon Sports Elite Indoor Invitational.
Boys results for the 19th were: AJ Crocker placed ninth in the 2-mile run in 11:09.20; and Ben Gapski (Wiscasset) placed 13th in the 55m hurdles in 9.01, sixth in the long jump with 19-5.25, and eighth in the triple jump with 38-7.
For the girls: Rose Campbell and Moriah Smith placed 12th and 20th in the 55m dash in 7.88 and 8.02; Campbell and Smith placed 11th and 17th in the 200m dash in 28.52 and 29.52; and Zuri Smith placed seventh in shot put with 27-2.5.
Girls results from the 16th were: Maggie McCarthy placed fifth in the 800m run in 3:09.16; McCarthy placed fifth in the 2-mile run in 15:18.59; Moriah Smith placed third in the triple jump with 29-1.25; Campbell placed third in the 200m dash in 29.75; and Campbell and Kora McKenney placed second and ninth in shot put with 24-9.5 and 18-7.5.
For the boys: Crocker and Nathan Percival placed seventh and 13th in the one-mile run in 5:20.41 and 6:27.63; Ross Gaffney placed ninth in the two-mile run in 12:48.37; the boys team placed third in the 4x200m relay in 1:48.43; Gapski placed second in the long jump with 18-0.25; Gaffney placed 29th in the 55m dash in 9.07; Lysander Lefevre placed sixth in the 400m dash in 1:04.94; Gapski placed second in the 55m hurdles in 8.83; and Casey Phelps placed sixth in the shot put with 32-4.5.
