Set for Success Aug. 16 at WCC
As the current school year is winding down, and the weekend bags of shelf-stable meals are finished for now, the Wiscasset Feed Our Scholars/Set For Success group is gearing up in anticipation of school year 2026-27, with the popular and important Set For Success event held at Wiscasset Community Center on Gardiner Road on Aug. 16. Every child who attends the Wiscasset schools—as well as homeschoolers who would be attending—is able to "shop" for their teacher-suggested supplies to begin the new school year.
Of course, the supplies need to be purchased for this, so if you would like to sponsor the cost of a child’s school supplies, or otherwise donate so that Feed Our Scholars/Set for Success may purchase the supply items, send a check for whatever you feel comfortable with to St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, Maine 04578. Please write Set For Success in the memo line. St. Philip’s Church is a 501(c)(3) organization.
In-kind donations of supplies are also very much welcome and can be dropped at the Wiscasset branch of the First Bank on Gardiner Road, First Congregational Church, or St. Philip’s Church. One can check out the Amazon wish list at tinyurl.com/WiscS4S for inspiration and, if you desire, do your shopping there. What could be easier than letting your "fingers do the walking" and Amazon do the delivering?
Feed Our Scholars/Set For Success will be taking part in Wormfest on June 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the Wiscasset waterfront. Located in the food court area, the group will be selling baked goods and displaying informational materials. Come on by, purchase goodies, and find out more about the effort to provide nutrition to elementary students and school supplies toward support of student learning.
