St. Giles Fair includes live auction, crafters’ tables, children’s games and more
Parishioners at St. Giles Episcopal Church in Jefferson are working hard to make the annual Country Fair the best ever. The fair will be held Saturday, July 25, under the tall pine trees on the church grounds. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a live auction at 11. Be sure to arrive in time to get your bid numbers. St. Giles is located at 72 Gardiner Road (Route 126) in Jefferson.
Among the items to bid on are three beautiful cotton quilts made by the Reverend Molly Scherm -- two queen size and a smaller one. Other items include: a large mounted moose head; two mounted deer heads; an antique kitchen table with matching chairs; a child’s stroller, a large dog crate; a cord of hardwood firewood; three hours custom sawing of your logs or an hour and a half sawing of rough pine lumber from the donor’s logs; certificates to the Jefferson Scoop and the Jefferson Market and much more. You can pay by Venmo, check or cash.
In addition, 21 local artisans and crafters have reserved tables to display their offerings of unique items.
At the church’s traditional country cupboard booth parishioners will offer homemade jams and jellies, baked items, and indoor plants, and of course, there will be the traditional sale of “heavenly” homemade pies.
There also will be a variety of children’s activities, all free of charge. hosted by Giles, the church’s very own stuffed mouse. The Giles Kids Corner includes activities such as face painting, an obstacle course, and a fishing game. The kids earn tickets when they play games, and with the tickets they pick their own prizes.
For lunch, parishioners will be offering hot dogs on the grill, sandwiches, chips, ice cream bars, and soft drinks.
So come to the fair for a day of fun and shopping, knowing that the money generated goes to the church and its outreach programs and agencies, including the Jefferson Area Community Food Pantry and Maine’s Home for Little Wanderers.
