Stephen Joel Baseman, 81, passed away peacefully Nov. 16, 2018 in Southport, Maine, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Esther and Isadore Baseman.

Stephen was predeceased by his older brother Robert L. Baseman.

He was a self-described entrepreneur, with a multitude of businesses that spanned many years and industries, and took great pleasure in sharing his rich business experience and acumen with others. Stephen enjoyed an adventurous life full of travel, collecting antiques and friendships.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Baseman; mother-in-law, Molly Axler, age 101; sisters-in-law, Elaine Fingerhut and Gwen Baseman; brother-in-law, Steven Fingerhut; his children, Ira Baseman, Marc Baseman, and Cindy Pochesci; daughter-in-law, Christina Rutkaus; his grandchildren, Max Baseman, Nicholas Rutkaus, Ella Baseman, Aaron Baseman, Rocco Pochesci, along with many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Beth Israel Congregation in Bath, Maine sometime next spring. Stephen’s ashes will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath and spread in the bay in front of his favorite spot in Southport, Maine.
