Syvilla A. Sukeforth

Syvilla Ada Wyman Sukeforth, 83, a long-time resident of Wiscasset, went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2020 with family by her side.

Born on Jan. 11, 1937 to Raymond and Theresa Wyman of Small Point, Maine, Syvilla grew up on the family farm with her four siblings. She attended elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Morse High School in 1955. Syvilla worked at her family's general store in Small Point, and as a bookkeeper at Shepard's Shoe Store on Front Street in Bath. She married Eugene Sukeforth on July 15, 1956. Eugene's Air Force enlistment took them to Germany where they lived and welcomed their first son. After military commitments, the three of them toured Europe by car before returning home in Bath. The couple had three more boys while living in Bath and then bought a farm on Gardiner Road in Wiscasset. In 1971, the couple established Wiscasset Lawn, Garden and Sports center which they owned and operated for nearly 30 years before retiring.

Syvilla was a faithful and active member of the Bible Baptist Church where she often sang solo and in the choir. She enjoyed music, playing piano, reading, painting, gardening, traveling and family gatherings. Syvilla was a gentle, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Syvilla was predeceased by her parents: Raymond and Theresa Wyman, sisters: Colleen Wyman Cook and Maxine Wyman, and a brother: Myron Wyman.

Syvilla is survived by her sister, Carol Wyman Doughty and husband Harry of Phippsburg,

Husband, Eugene Sukeforth, son, Dale Sukeforth and wife Lisa of New Gloucester, son, Gregory Sukeforth and wife Edna of Wiscasset, son, Bruce Sukeforth and wife Bonnie of Wiscasset, and son, Brian Sukeforth of Edgecomb. Grandchildren, Tyson Sukeforth and wife Melissa, Kevin Sukeforth and wife Nichole, Courtney Sukeforth Petrick and husband Chris, Gabriel Sukeforth, Anna Sukeforth Sleeper and husband Mark, Rachel Sukeforth Wallace and husband Mike, Andrea Sukeforth Hartman and husband Seth, Michelle Sukeforth, Zachary Sukeforth, Veronica Sukeforth Theriault and husband Dillon, Brandon Sukeforth and Kendra Sukeforth. Great grandchildren: Cedric Sukeforth, Nessa Petrick, Talis Petrick, Nadalie Sleeper, Izabella Sleeper, Aurora Wallace, Brock Wallace, Ainzley Hartman and Emersyn Hartman.

Due to the recent CDC recommendations of limited gatherings, a graveside ceremony will be held at a later date and will be announced as soon as possible. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
