Upcoming Craft Cinema Sundays
Calling all Crafters! The Waldo Theatre is delighted to invite local makers and movie lovers to two upcoming Craft Cinema afternoons: cozy community gatherings designed for anyone who loves to craft while enjoying a great film surrounding by other creatives!
On Sunday, Nov. 30 at 4 p.m., we’ll be screening the iconic classic "Clueless" followed by a festive showing of "The Holiday" on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.
Craft Cinema is a relaxed get-together where guests can bring their current projects (knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sketching, or anything that keeps their hands happily busy) and unwind with a movie in the company of fellow makers. The theater lights will remain on to ensure comfortable crafting throughout the film. All skill levels (and movie lovers) are warmly welcome. Just bring your craft supplies and settle in.
Our Craft Cinema Sundays are inspired by Juliet of Sew Hooked Crochet, the Founder of Craft Cinema Nights in Melbourne, Australia. Juliet launched Craft Cinema Nights in 2024 after growing tired of leaving the house without a project in hand plus wanting to connect with other local crafters. What began as a simple idea has blossomed into a feel-good night out for artists of all kinds. Her mission continues to guide our own Craft Cinema gatherings.
At Craft Cinema Night, you’ll find a beloved film paired with a warm, welcoming environment where everyone can slow down, meet like-minded makers, and enjoy a wholesome outing doing what they love. Bring your latest project, grab some popcorn, and enjoy some well-deserved, uninterrupted crafting time. The holidays are coming up! Get your crafting time in with is at Craft Cinema!
"Clueless" - (1995) - A sparkling, iconic ‘90s teen comedy that follows fashion-loving Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) as she navigates friendship, matchmaking, and personal growth in Beverly Hills. Witty, charming, and endlessly quotable, Clueless is the perfect backdrop for a fun and upbeat crafting session.
"The Holiday" - (2006) - A cosy, heartwarming holiday favorite about two women (Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz) who swap homes across the globe in search of a fresh start—and unexpectedly find love and renewal along the way. With its festive charm and feel-good storytelling, The Holiday sets the scene for a warm, relaxed afternoon of crafting. Also stars Jude Law and Jack Black.
Tickets and more information are available at www.thewaldotheatre.org. Coming alone? No worries! We’re friendly and you can connect with other kind crafters before the film starts. Or not! Just hunker down and do your thing! See you soon!
