Voting in Edgecomb

Mon, 08/17/2020 - 3:00pm

    Dear Editor:

It is time to vote on the 2020 warrant articles in Edgecomb.

Please be aware that voting on the warrant articles will be a different process this year. The ongoing state restrictions related to gatherings greater than 50 people have forced the select board to cancel the annual town meeting this year. Instead, residents will place their votes for each of the 66 warrant articles, along with their votes for elected town officials, by completing a paper ballot. Voters may complete their ballot at the polls, which will be open at the Edgecomb Town Hall on Aug. 29 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Social distancing protocols and face coverings will be enforced.

As an alternative to visiting the polls, voters are encouraged to cast their ballots through absentee voting. To request an absentee ballot, call or visit the town clerk’s office at the Edgecomb Town Hall during office hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 to 5 p.m.). Your completed absentee ballot must be returned to the town hall no later than 4 p.m. on Aug. 29.

A third option for casting your votes is to visit the town hall during office hours (Tuesday, Thursday 1 to 5 p.m.) before Aug. 29 to complete your ballot. This alternative eliminates the need to submit a request.

By having several options available for residents to cast their votes on the warrant during these challenging times, town officials hope to see the usual robust response from Edgecomb residents to important questions and issues regarding the workings of the town.

    Thank you for voting!
