Voting for Susan Collins

Mon, 08/24/2020 - 3:00pm

Sara Gideon is running ads right now attacking Senator Susan Collins for voting to lower taxes, and she promises to reverse the recent tax cuts.

While she’d like us to believe that the tax cuts exclusively benefited large corporations, the fact is that 9-out-of-10 Maine families also received tax cuts, which averaged $1,700 for middle class families. It also dropped some of our poorest citizens off of the tax rolls altogether. Prior to this tax cut, America had the highest corporate tax rate in the world. By lowering this rate, we were able to bring so many jobs back to this country to benefit Americans. In today’s age of empty store shelves, shouldn’t we focus more on policies that promote American-made goods for Americans? Raising the corporate tax rate would ensure that we remain reliant on
    countries like China.

So this November, when you go to vote, ask yourself if you’d like to pay more in taxes, because that’s what a vote for Sara Gideon will get you. I’ll be voting for Susan Collins.
