Wayne Farrin's vote on voter ID
Dear Editor:
A recent letter to the editor pointed out that Representative Wayne Farrin voted in June 2025 against a Republican sponsored measure in the Maine legislature that would have required Mainers to submit photo IDs when showing up to vote. That partisan measure failed.
What the letter did not mention is that in November 2025 Maine voters statewide, not just legislators, soundly rejected a ballot initiative that would have required voter photo IDs. It would appear that Rep. Farrin's vote in the legislature reflected his understanding of the wishes of his constituents. Democracy in action, I'd say.
The letter writer concludes with a warning that "more voter fraud continues to be identified throughout the country." But she makes this claim without evidence and despite countless reassurances from election officials throughout the country that actual voter fraud is practically non-existent.
