This Friday, June 25, marks another step in our re-opening. While we will continue with our current pandemic procedures for matinees (masks required, advance tickets only, etc.) starting with opening night of  “In the Heights,” general seating returns for all evening screenings. For these evening screenings tickets can be purchased in advance and also at the door starting at 6:30 p.m., masks and social distancing will no longer be required, and our famous popcorn returns! We are getting there. Our matinee screenings will adapt the same process as evenings above in a few weeks – on Friday, July 23rd to be exact. Thanks for your patience and for continued caring for the health and safety of our neighbors.

“Gunda” - (G; 1 hour, 33 minutes) - Experiential cinema in its purest form, “Gunda” chronicles the unfiltered lives of a mother pig, a flock of chickens, and a herd of cows with masterful intimacy. Using stark, transcendent black and white cinematography and the farm’s ambient soundtrack, Master director Victor Kossakowsky invites the audience to slow down and experience life as his subjects do, taking in their world with a magical patience and an other-worldly perspective. The film asks us to meditate on the mystery of animal consciousness and reckon with the role humanity plays in it. Final screenings Thursday, June 24 at 2 and 7 p.m.

“In the Heights” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 23 minutes) - The creator of “Hamilton” and the director of  “Crazy Rich Asians” invite you to the event of the summer, where the streets are made of music and little dreams become big … “In the Heights” lights up on Washington Heights. The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life. “In the Heights” fuses Lin-Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience. Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, June 25;  Saturday, June 26; Wednesday,  June 30; and Sunday, June 27 at 2 p.m.

Coming soon:  “Dream Horse”  - Friday, July 9; “Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It” - Friday,  July 16; The MidCoast Film Fest, Season Two opens Friday, July 23!

For all matinee screenings, masks are required (MR) and tickets must be purchased in advance.
