“In the Heights” -  (PG-13; 2 hours, 23 minutes) -  Justin Chang of the LA Times wrote, “At nearly two-and-a-half hours and with a terrific ensemble of actors singing, rapping, dancing and practically bursting out of the frame, ‘In the Heights’ is a brash and invigorating entertainment, a movie of tender, delicate moments that nonetheless revels unabashedly in its own size and scale. … As a musical valentine to a close-knit Latino community, an inspired swirl of hip-hop, Latin pop, salsa and other musical idioms, its pleasures are often glorious, even transporting. It summons — and for the most part sustains — the kind of visual and musical energy that might help give the movies the resurgent jab-in-the-arm summer they’ve been waiting for.”  Final screenings Thursday, July 8 at 2 and 7 p.m

“Dream Horse” -  (PG; 1 hour, 53 minutes) - Experience the inspiring true story of Dream Alliance, an unlikely racehorse bred by small town bartender Jan Vokes (Academy Award nominee Toni Collette). With very little money and no experience, Jan convinces her neighbors to chip in their meager earnings to help raise Dream and compete with the racing elites. Their investment pays off as Dream rises through the ranks and becomes a beacon of hope in their struggling community. Also starring Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers & Homeland).  Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, July 9, Saturday, July 10, Wednesday July 14, Thursday, July 15; and Sunday, July 11 at 2 p.m.

Coming soon - tickets on sale now:  “Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It” - July 16;  The MidCoast Film Fest Season Two - Friday,  July 23. Live on Stage: Venticordi returns for ‘It Takes Five’ with Directors Kathleen McNerney and Dean Stein, on oboe and violin, and guest artists Catherine Hudgins, clarinet, Kallie Sugatski, viola, and Anthony D’Amico, double bass.
