    If there was ever a film to see on one of the biggest movie screens in the state of Maine, its “Top Gun: Maverick.” If you’ve already seen it, you know you want to see it again. And if you haven’t seen it at all yet, boy are you in for a treat starting Aug. 20!

    Salt Bay Chamberfest – Master Class – Free - Young Maine student musicians are coached by Salt Bay Chamberfest (SBC) musicians, violist CarlaMaria Rodrigues, cellist Wilhelmina Smith, and pianist Thomas Sauer, presenting a unique opportunity for young musicians and the community to learn what goes into the craft of music-making from the master SBC musicians. Fri day, Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. No reservations required.

    Festival Concert 4 - Salt Bay Chamberfest – Beginning with an evocation of darkness in Schubert’s “Nottorno” and Mazzoli’s “Vespers,” SBC’s final concert travels through the glow of Joachim and Scriabin, closing with the brilliant Schumann “Piano Quartet” in a figurative burst of light. Featuring Jennifer Koh, violin, CarlaMaria Rodrigues, viola, Wilhelmina Smith, cello, and Thomas Sauer, piano.     Salt Bay Chamberfest – Free Family Concert - An exciting exploration of music for all ages. With Mark Mandarano, creator & MC, and Salt Bay Chamberfest musicians, violinist Jennifer Koh, violist CarlaMaria Rodrigues, cellist Wilhelmina Smith, and pianist Thomas Sauer. Sat Aug 20 at 10:30 am. No reservations required.

    “Top Gun: Maverick” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 11 minutes) - After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose”. Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it. Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 and Wednesday, Aug 24; at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, and Thu Aug 25 at 2 p.m.

Cutting-edge breakthroughs in science and technology explore new worlds, reveal astonishing creatures and extraordinary new animal behaviors, exploring our remotest seas and examining what the future will hold for our planet.
