    Thandiwe Newton, Emmy award winning actress for her portrayal of Maeve Millay in the HBO series Westworld, stars in the simmering thriller “God’s Country,” opening this Friday. Based on James Lee Burke’s short story, “Winter Light,” the film adaptation, which first premiered at Sundance, confronts race, class, and cultural divides as a newcomer to rural Montana finds her solitude interrupted by two trespassing hunters.

    “The Good Boss” - (NR; 2 hours, Spanish with English subtitles) - Básculas Blanco, a Spanish company producing industrial scales in a provincial Spanish town, awaits the imminent visit from a committee which holds its fate in their hands as to whether they merit a local Business Excellence award. Everything has to be perfect when the time comes. Working against the clock, the company’s proprietor, Blanco (Javier Bardem) pulls out all the stops to address and resolve issues with his employees, crossing every imaginable line in the process. Final showtime Thursday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m.

    “Talking Food in Maine” with host Cherie Scott -  Join us for the first guest in season 3 of Talking Food in Maine, a free series of one-on-one conversations between host Cherie Scott of Boothbay and notable culinary pioneers who have made a substantial contribution to the culinary arts in the state of Maine. As the Food Science Innovation Coordinator and Facility Manager for the School of Food and Agriculture at the University of Maine, Rob supports economic growth in Maine’s food and agriculture sector. Rob also facilitates broad-based support for Maine food producers, manages two commercial food production facilities for research, education, and support for producers, is a Certified Executive Chef through the American Culinary Federation, a U.S. Navy veteran, and holds a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.

    “God’s Country” - (R; 1 hour, 42 minutes) -  In a rural college town, a grieving former police officer turned college professor gets drawn into an escalating battle of wills when she confronts two hunters she catches trespassing on her property, putting her most deeply held values to the test with catastrophic consequences. Plays at 2 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30; Saturday, Oct. 1; Wednesday, Oct. 5; playing at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 and Thursday, Oct. 6.
