A Westport Island Christmas Dec. 7
Under the sponsorship of the Westport Community Association and the energetic direction of Wendy Thompson with piano accompaniment by Carol Blake, Westport Island will hold its annual Christmas program Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Island’s historic church on Main Road about 5.6 miles from the bridge.
With a freshly painted ceiling and newly installed rug, the warm glow of the original kerosene lanterns welcomes all. Come join in singing some traditional carols and hear solo performances by Island residents. These include ”Angels We Have Heard on High” on piano by Mara Abbott; “The Christmas Song” on guitar by Dewey Harris; “O Christmas Tree” on violin by Joseph McGrath; and a beautiful rendition of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” sung by Dan Quinion.
There will be readings by The Rev. Marcia Richardson, Mara Abbott, Jack Swanton and Dick Barker.
Following the service there will be refreshments next store at the town hall.
All are asked to bring a non-perishable item for the Island’s Cottage Pantry basket.
