Past Shore Run. Courtesy photo Great weather is forecast for the 21st annual Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race this Sunday, Aug. 16 on bridge-accessible Westport Island. Sunny skies and cool temperatures are in store for the 21st anniversary running of "Maine's Best Little 10K Road Race" that will again benefit Westport Volunteer Fire Department, whose members direct traffic and provide logistical and medical support at the race. Last year's race raised $2,500 for the firefighters; over the past 20 years, the race has raised almost $40,000 for the Westport Island firefighters! In addition to the 10K road race, there is a 3.5 mile "fun walk."
