Westport Island Shore Run Aug. 17 falls on 2 big anniversaries

The 20th Annual Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race will take place this year on Sunday, Aug. 17 on bridge-accessibleWestport Island.
"Maine's Best Little 10K Road Race" had a great turnout in 2024 with over 50 runners and more than 10 participants in the "fun walk." The 20th anniversary running of the race will again benefit Westport Volunteer Fire Department, whose members direct traffic and provide logistical and medical support at the race.
Over the past 19 years, the race has raised over $35,000 for the Westport Island firefighters! This year is also the 70th anniversary of the founding of Westport Volunteer Fire Department.
The race will be computer timed by 5K Sports Management for the 20th straight year. There will be an award ceremony and fun raffle prize giveaway. For more information about the race and how to register, go to: www.westportisland.org.
