Wiscasset Ambulance Service celebrates 50 years May 16
Saturday, May 16, Wiscasset Ambulance Service will party like it's turning 50, because it is. Look for a food truck, beer garden and a band. Selectmen May 5 granted Director Erin Bean's request to shut down "Lincoln Street from Federal to just beyond Middle Steet, along with the end of Middle Street to Shinbone Alley" from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. May 16. Plans call for the event to run from 5 to 9.
Besides the other festivities, there will be presentations for the ambulance service's founding members, according to Bean's letter dated April 22.
Also May 5, the board OK'd Railroad Avenue's shutdown from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 13 for Wormfest. This year's is set to run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And the board OK'd Wormfest's use of Scout Hall for the festival's history and museum exhibit in partnership with Historic New England.
Selectmen nodded as election clerks, effective from May 1, 2026 to May 1, 2028, Republicans Linda Adams, Jean Beattie-Flynn, Tina Caron, James Crowley and Lorie Merry; Democrats Indriani Demers, Thomas Eichler, Terry Heller, Ann Light and Wendy Ross; and Unenrolled, Brendan Barry.
Selectmen nominated Vice Chair Pam Dunning for Maine Municipal Association's 2026-28 Legislative Policy Committee and accepted Jan Hobbs-Bailey's resignation from the Wiscasset Climate Action Team. "It's been a pleasure to work with the group and I wish the team all the best," Hobbs-Bailey wrote in an April 21 email to WCAT Chair Cassaundra Rose.
