Wiscasset Fiction Bookshop to host author Shannon Parker
Like books? Love lobsters? Gather with local author Shannon M. Parker at “the coziest little bookshop in the prettiest village in Maine” on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. as she discusses her third novel, “Love & Lobsters." Celebrated by Down East as “a love letter to Maine,” Parker’s latest release has been optioned for film and is Maine Public Radio’s August pick for “All Books Considered.”
Authentically set in Midcoast Maine with a female lobsterman at the helm, the fictional work explores how the many kinds of love—particularly the support found in community and kindness—can lift us up. There’s plenty of wisdom to be discovered as lobsters serve as the perfect analogy for lessons in love.
“I zoomed through this novel and found myself laughing and crying in equal measure, and I learned A LOT about lobsters!” said Toni Chapell, owner of Fiction Bookshop.
A perfect gift for anyone who loves Maine, the author will sign copies of “Love & Lobsters” made available for purchase at Fiction Bookshop, located at 49 Water St. in Wiscasset. Tickets for the evening are $10 and include light refreshments, a reading, and lively conversation with the author from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Copies of the novel will include a custom “lobster love” greeting card, and Parker will have book-themed giveaways for some lucky attendees.
Stop by Fiction Bookshop or reach out to fiction.anovelbookshop@gmail.com to reserve your place. Event space is limited.
Literary events are designed to bring readers and writers together, and we hope you’ll gather at Fiction Bookshop for an evening inspired by love…and lobsters.
