Wiscasset July 4 events
Wiscasset Parks and Recreation has announced the following:
This year's July 4 parade theme will be celebrating our "America The Beautiful" 250th celebration. In a special tribute, this year's parade will forgo a traditional single Grand Marshal. Instead, the procession will celebrate Wiscasset-area veterans, who will ride together on the lead float.
Parade line-up at 9 a.m. on Churchill Street, organized by members of Lincoln Lodge #3. At 10 a.m. the parade will begin, crossing Route 27, proceeding down Hooper Street to Federal Street, turning onto Main Street (Route One) to Water Street, then ending at the waterfront. An announcement of awards will take place on the waterfront after the parade.
American Legion Post 54 will lead a memorial salute and flag raising at the waterfront. Strawberry shortcake will be for sale at Wiscasset Yacht Club. Wiscasset Parks and Recreation will have games and a dunk tank until early afternoon.
Evening festivities start at 6:30 p.m. at the waterfront. Back River Bistro will host a bbq tent and beer garden, and live music will be provided by 3 Drinks In until 9 p.m. Fireworks will begin after dusk (around 9:15 p.m.)
You must pre-register to be judged in the parade. Registration forms must be turned in by noon Friday, July 3. They can be turned in at Wiscasset Community Center or emailed to dgoud@wiscassetrec.com
