Wiscasset sets holiday events

    The Wiscasset Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the holidays with these special events:

    From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Wiscasset Community Center is a Holiday Market. Nearly 20 vendors will be selling various items perfect for the gift-giving season! Admission is free. Concession items will be available at an additional cost. Vendor space is available for $35. Please contact Bonnie Blagdon at 882-8230 for more information.

    Also Saturday, Dec. 1, head to the common for the 4:30 p.m. annual tree lighting. We gather in front of the Congregational Church where Santa will arrive to help light the tree and sing carols with the Wiscasset School Chorus, of students from grades 4 through 12. Cookies, doughnuts and hot cocoa will be available after the festivities in the church hall.

    From 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at WCC is a gingerbread house workshop. New this year! Come and create your own gingerbread house to take home. We will have your pre-made gingerbread house all ready for you to decorate. Each house is $20 for residents/community partners, $25 for non-residents / non-members. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as space and houses are limited. Register at www.wiscassetrec.com or stop by the Community Center.

    And from 8 to 10 a.m Saturday, Dec. 15, Wiscasset's Breakfast with Santa tradition continues. Santa arrives at the Community Center for his annual breakfast visit. Bring your camera to capture the moment and get some face time with the Jolly Ol Elf while you feast on pancakes with all the fixings. Cost: 12 and older: $7. Ages 4-11: $3. Kids 3 and under are free. Register ahead or pay at the door.
