Workshop set on seventh and eight grade move
The Wiscasset School Committee on Nov. 17 will continue talks on a possible move of seventh and eighth grades from Wiscasset Middle School to Wiscasset High School.
The panel mulled the idea Oct. 23 on a recommendation from Interim Superintendent of Schools Lyford Beverage to move the grades, in part to remove those two grades as a factor in merging the middle school’s other grades with those of the Wiscasset Primary School, into one building next school year.
He and some school committee members have also cited educational benefits for seventh and eighth graders if they attend the high school.
Monday’s workshop in the high school library is set for 5 p.m., followed by the committee’s regular meeting in the library at 6:30 p.m. Among the agenda items is a discussion on the search for a superintendent.
