Wiscasset Police Department

Worster resigns from WPD

Thu, 12/13/2018 - 3:45pm

Police Sgt. Craig Worster submitted a letter of resignation, dated Dec. 6, to Wiscasset selectmen. Worster was hired as a patrol deputy in 2016 and was promoted to School Resource Officer in February 2017 and sergeant in September 2017.

Worster sought to be chief when Chief Jeff Lange resigned earlier this summer. The job went to veteran police chief Larry Hesseltine of Waldoboro. At the time, Worster said his intention was to remain with the department.

The resignation letter is scheduled to be shared during the Dec. 18 selectmen's meeting, set for 5:30 p.m., half an hour earlier than usual.

Efforts to reach Worster were not immediately successful; calls to Hesseltine and Town Manager Marian Anderson were not immediately returned.
