    “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” - (PG;  1 hour, 30 minutes) - Marcel is an adorable one-inch-tall shell who ekes out a colorful existence with his grandmother Connie and their pet lint, Alan. Once part of a sprawling community of shells, they now live alone as the sole survivors of a mysterious tragedy. But when a documentary filmmaker discovers them amongst the clutter of his Airbnb, the short film he posts online brings Marcel millions of passionate fans, as well as unprecedented dangers and a new hope at finding his long-lost family. Final screenings: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 and at 4* and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1.

    *Special book event screening for the entire family  Sept. 1 at 4 p.m. with discount tickets for families.     “Top Gun: Maverick” - (PG 13; 2 hours, 11 minutes) -  This film has been a box office hit all summer, and now we are finally able to bring it to Harbor Theater. Don't miss Tom Cruise as he pushes the envelope as a courageous test pilot, dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose”. Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it. Plays a 7 p.m.  Friday, Sept. 2, Saturday, Sept. 3, Monday, Sept. 5,  Tuesday, Sept. 6; Wednesday, Sept. 7; Thursday, Sept. 8; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.

    “Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 55 minutes) - This film takes a definitive exploration of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen as seen through the prism of his internationally renowned hymn, Hallelujah. The feature-length documentary weaves together three creative strands: The songwriter and his times; the song's dramatic journey from record label reject to chart-topping hit; moving testimonies from major recording artists (Judy Collins, Brandi Carlisle) for whom Hallelujah has become a personal touchstone. Opening Sept. 9.

    Harbor Theater, 185 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, is open nightly at 7 with a matinee only on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for members and children under 18.
