Whitfield W. Vye
Whitfield W. Vye, 96, of South Kingstown, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025.
Born in Lynbrook on Long Island, New York on Nov. 21, 1928 to his loving parents Whitfield W. and Lucy Jane (McGowan) Vye, he was the devoted husband and soulmate to Dulcianne (Hussey) for 71 years, and father to Christian.
Whit worked as a commercial artist - he was the art director in the '70s at AEP for the children's magazine, My Weekly Reader, where Dulcianne was also an illustrator. He was an avid outdoorsman, traveler, a skilled painter, wood carver of birds/whales/sharks and scratch-built scale modeler. He was published in Scale Modeler magazine and others. Over their years together, Whit & Dulcianne lived in Norwell, Massachusetts, Durham, Connecticut, Lamoine and Wiscasset, Maine, and Wakefield, Rhode Island.
Whit is survived by Dulcianne; his youngest sister Jennie; son Christian (wife, Colleen) and grandchildren Lena and Stephanie. He was predeceased by his parents and younger sister Dawn.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 12:30 p.m., at Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Peace Dale, RI.
