The Winter Weather Advisory projected to hit the state on Tuesday night may not significantly impact Lincoln County. Whereas the National Weather Service in Gray predicts 2-4 inches of snow in central Maine and as much as six inches in Aroostook County, the Boothbay Region and Wiscasset is expected to get only a half-inch of snow and only a small amount of rain, according to NWS meteorologist Stacie Hanes. Non-coastal Lincoln county communities may get as much as two inches of snow, according to Hanes.

A light snow is expected to start falling by 10 p.m. in Lincoln County and turn into rain by morning. Hanes doesn’t expect driving conditions to be a problem in the Wiscasset area as temperatures are expected to remain above freezing. But from 6 to 10 a.m. in the Boothbay Region, road conditions may be slick.

“The Boohbay region is right on the bubble. You (Boothbay region) may not get any snow because it’s expected to mix with rain,” Hanes said. “The morning temperatures are expected to be between 30 -32 F. But it’s expected to warm up later in the morning.”

Lincoln County temperatures for later Wednesday afternoon are expected to be in the mid-40s to the  lower-50s. While temperatures across the state are forecasted to be in lower 40s, said Hanes.

Central Maine along with the 2-4 inches of snow is expected to mix with one-tenth inch of rain which will fall to the ground as ice, said Hanes.
