NWS predicts light snow Friday, rain Saturday
Snow late Friday night and rain Saturday is the weather forecast for the Midcoast this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Gray.
Meteorologist Margaret Curtis expects about an inch of snow to drop late Friday night after midnight and stop around 9 a.m. Saturday.
An inch of snow may accumulate inland in the peninsula with Ocean Point receiving only a trace of accumulation, Curtis said.
“The Boothbay region will see some rain, but they are lucky to have the ocean on all sides of you,” she said. “The ocean waters will keep you warmer than inland Maine and not cause too many weather related problems.”
This weekend forecast for the rest of Maine isn’t as promising. In central Maine, Augusta to Lewiston will receive 2-3 inches of snow fall Friday night into Saturday, and the far northern region will receive 4-6 inches, according to the NWS forecast.
In the Boothbay region, Curtis expects an half inch of rain to accumulate on Saturday. The high temperature in the Boothbay region is expected to reach in the 40s F during the day on Saturday and drop to the 20s F at night. On Sunday, Curtis predicts sunny skies, but be “quite cold” with the high temperature in the low 30s F.
