Skidompha Book Shop reopens February 2
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta will reopen on Monday, February 2 at 10 a.m., ending its annual winter break.
During the break, according to Rosie Bensen, co-manager, “Book shop volunteers have been busy building new shelves, making new signs, reorganizing sections, and adding hundreds of new donated books. We think our regular customers will be pleased with the changes, and we hope new customers will stop in and see what we have to offer.”
She notes that the shop is opening in time for Valentine’s Day, and has “many volumes that would make lovely gifts.”
The shop has an extensive collection of paperback and hardcover books for children and adults, along with music CDs, movie DVDs and videos, audiobooks, and puzzles.
The shop is managed and run entirely by volunteers as a major fund-raiser for Skidompha Public Library. All items are donated, and all proceeds go to the library.
Store hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shop is located at 115 Elm Street in the Red Barn, just up the hill from the library’s back door.
Donations are accepted whenever the shop is open. Donors are asked not to leave books outside because even a little snow or rain can ruin them.
