Full plate for Wiscasset selectmen tonight
Wiscasset could have a better idea tonight how the town may handle property assessing work. Selectmen are set to open bids on assessing services. Bidding was open to individuals or firms. Town Manager Marian Anderson put out a request for proposals after Wiscasset’s longtime assessors’ agent Sue Varney retired.
Also Tuesday, the board will hear from Parks and Recreation Director Todd Souza about possible work on the Wiscasset Community Center’s roof, and about the exploration the town has been doing on a possible land buy on Gardiner Pond. The property’s owners consider it to have a higher value than a recent appraisal came in at, according to Souza’s Jan. 27 letter to Anderson.
“As of today there has not been further discussion with the sellers regarding their response,” the letter states.
Maine Yankee spokesman Eric Howes is also on the agenda, as are updates regarding Wiscasset Ambulance Service and the Wiscasset School Department. Tonight’s meeting at the municipal building starts at 7 p.m.
