Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of its ninth annual Claw Down, held at The Shipyard in Boothbay Harbor on June 16.

Nine chefs competed in the event which showcases Maine’s popular crustacean. Chamber Executive Director Lisa Walby said 250 tickets were sold for the Chamber fundraiser. In addition, the Claw Down offered sales of the specialty drink Shipyard Sippah to benefit the New England Boat Preservation Foundation.

Walby said, “We are pleased to bring back this annual event.” The Chamber has already received texts and emails from attendees calling the event awesome and a one of a kind local event.

Voting took place in three categories: Judge’s Choice, Chef’s Choice, judged by fellow chefs and People’s Choice, judged by attendees.

Judge’s Choice first place went to Harborside 1901: sous vide lobster; second place, 727 Ocean Sunset Bar – Smuggler’s Cove Inn: lobster wonton; and third place, Boothbay Harbor Country Club: lobster bahn-bao.

Chef’s Choice had a tie for first place between Cozy’s Dockside, with gỏi cuốn, and Spruce Point Inn, with lobster and smoked corn martini

And for People’s Choice, first place went to 727 Ocean Sunset Bar – Smuggler’s Cove Inn: lobster wonton; second place, Spruce Point Inn: lobster and smoked corn martini; and third place, Boothbay Harbor Country Club: lobster bahn-bao.

Table display winner was Brady’s Restaurant.

The nine chefs who participated and their entries were: 727 Ocean Sunset Bar – Smuggler’s Cove Inn, Dana Moos, lobster wonton; Boothbay Harbor Country Club, Zach Bondy, lobster bahn-bao; Brady’s Restaurant, Shane and Bob (aka ShaBob), lobster bisque, including lobster meat, with “Bubbly” chaser; Cozy’s Dockside, Mike Nguyen, lobster gỏi cuốn; Harborside 1901, Sylvia Guevara, sous vide lobster; Linekin Bay Resort, Jon Dexter, lobster terrine with saffron aoli and pickled fiddleheads; Marcel’s Submarine Shop, Michael Morissette, lobster roll with homemade mayonnaise and roll; Mine Oyster, Ralph Smith, Maine lobster taco bite; Spruce Point Inn, Ted Moffit, lobster and smoked corn martini.
