25th anniversary concert at Lincoln Theater

The Seacoast Community Orchestras will present a 25th Anniversary Concert of classical music Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater, 2 Theater St.,  Damariscotta. 

This free concert of music from different centuries and genres, will feature the three groups comprising Seacoast Orchestras. The Avanzata, with a full symphonic orchestra, will present “Symphony No. 101 in D Major” by Joseph Haydn, a beautiful piece often referred to as ‘The Clock.’

The Prima, comprised of youth and players new to ensemble playing, along with their mentors, will perform “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin, a piece by Haydn and a traditional waltz. The Mezza musicians will perform ‘String Symphony No. 5”  by Mendelssohn and “Ancient Dances and Airs” by Ottorino Respighi.

Everyone is invited to hear these very talented musicians of all ages, directed by Ferdinand Liva of the DaPonte String Quartet (Avanzata & Mezza) and Kaity Newell, GSB Strings Program Director (Primo). 

String players of all ages and levels are encouraged to join Seacoast Orchestras, a unique organization bringing musicians of all ages together to play classical music in the midcoast for 25 years. Seacoast Orchestra rehearsals are held on Tuesday afternoons at GSB school. Concerts are presented in the fall and spring and are always free to the public, however, donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be available after the performance.
