A single-vehicle accident on Aug. 14 in Edgecomb is still under investigation. Lt. Brendan Kane reported Roy Charles Merritt, 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas was driving his red Nissan Sentra southbound on Route 27 when he apparently "fell asleep" around 6:36 p.m. "He left the road and hit a utility pole near Blanchard's Creamery," he said. "I believe the car was totaled. Mr. Merritt was transported and I don't know the extent of his injuries."

The accident is still under investigation.
