Art competition opens for Maine students
From now until December 15, K-12 students in Maine can compete for a chance to showcase their art on a huge canvas – the side of a truck! CLYNK, the Maine company that makes it easy to recycle and make a difference, announced the kick-off of the first-ever CLYNK for Art School Competition.
Students from all over the state are encouraged to create an inspiring piece of art that encourages be featured on six CLYNK trucks that pick up bottles and cans at CLYNK locations in Hannaford stores. Each winning entry will also receive $250 to support school art programs.
There are separate categories for grades K-4, 5-8, 9-12. A panel of judges will select six winners, two from each category. Criteria include artistic merit and relevance to recycling. The deadline to enter is December 15, 2012.
For entry forms, a template or to submit artwork online, visit www.clynk.com/art. Submissions can also be sent via mail to: CLYNK 167 Rumery St., South Portland, ME 04106. Winners will be announced by February 1, 2013. Winning artwork will be unveiled on CLYNK trucks in spring 2013.
"Earlier this year we launched the Maine Recycles Championship to communicate the importance of recycling to students across Maine," CLYNK CEO Clayton Kyle said.
"The CLYNK for Art School C gives students an opportunity to become part of this important dialogue, and to express themselves in a creative way – and we get some cool art for our trucks!"
