Auditions for holiday comedy world premiere
Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT), the resident theater company of Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater, will hold open auditions for the world premiere of its new holiday comedy, "The Inn at Little Bethlehem," Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. in Porter Hall at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta.
"The Inn at Little Bethlehem" takes place at a small inn in Maine on Christmas Eve as a nor'easter for the ages is blowing. The staff hunker down for a quiet night. But when the roads close, stranded travelers begin arriving: first, a very pregnant Mary and her husband Joseph; then, three wanderers who have traversed afar; finally, a beautiful stranger with a broken heart, a lot of luggage, and some baggage. "The Inn at Little Bethlehem" is a funny, irreverent Christmas comedy about love, home, second chances, and the alarming possibility that some Christmas clichés might actually be true.
The play was written by Damariscotta resident and playwright Ron Capps and is being directed at Lincoln Theater by Boothbay’s Soren Barker, with Waldoboro’s George Bates producing. We are casting four male-presenting, three female-presenting, and two any gender roles. Everyone is encouraged to audition.
“It’s a rare treat and honor for actors to be able to originate roles in theatre,” Barker said. “Ron has crafted a smart, engaging story that will be a lot of fun for both the actors onstage and the audiences watching. This show is destined to be a highlight of Midcoast Maine's holiday season.”
Performances are scheduled for Dec. 11-13 and 18-20 with rehearsals beginning in late September. For details about character roles and audition requirements please visit LincolnTheater.org/LCCT.
