The Bobby Blackman Scholarship Fund was founded by the Knights of Pythias. They recognized that not only did Bob Blackman work in the trades, but he supported them as well. This fund is dedicated to helping local students pursue careers in skilled trades by providing scholarships for trade school education. Although tuition in Maine is now free to students attending trade schools, this scholarship helps pay for the other things needed. Books, tools for their trade, housing, transportation, etc. Our mission is to help students who are passionate about learning a trade but may need financial assistance to achieve their goals.

Scholarships may help students pursuing careers such as: Plumbers, welders, carpenters, HVAC technicians, electricians, automotive technicians, heavy equipment operators, commercial drivers {CDL}, cosmetologists and hair stylists, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), culinary arts, machinists, diesel mechanics, and many other skilled trades and technical careers.  

Please join us on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Cook’s Landing Pizzeria, Pub and Grille, Route 27 in Edgecomb from noon to 5 p.m. for the pig roast fundraiser. Food, raffles, music and more for just $10 per person.

One hundred percent of the proceeds directly support scholarships for deserving local students pursuing these valuable careers.
