Boothbay first responders attend to Route 27 accident
A Wiscasset man following too closely on Route 27 in Boothbay resulted in a minor traffic accident Thursday morning, a Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy said. Chester Fossett, 85, of Boothbay Harbor was traveling north on Route 27 shortly before 11 a.m. in his 2003 Dodge Dakota 4X4 truck.
As he slowed down to pull into T&D Variety, Fossett was struck by a 1988 Ford pickup truck driven by Larry Elwell, 74, of Wiscasset.
The Dodge sustained over a $1,000 worth of damage to the left rear end, according to Deputy Chad Gilbert. The Ford also received over $1,000 in damage.
“Both vehicles received minimal damage, just enough to report,” Gilbert said.
Neither driver was hurt, according to Gilbert, and both trucks drove away following the incident. Gilbert also reported no charges are pending against either driver.
