BRAF blooms with spring exhibit
The Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) is delighted to announce its vibrant spring art exhibit, opening on Friday, May 23 through Sunday, June 22, 2025. This highly anticipated show celebrates the diverse talents of over 150 local Maine artists who are members of BRAF.
This year’s exhibit is particularly exciting as it welcomes many new members to the BRAF community, offering a fresh perspective and an array of artistic styles for visitors to discover. The artwork on display encompasses a wide range of mediums, including captivating oil and acrylic paintings, delicate watercolors, stunning ceramics, evocative photography, unique monoprints and intricate collages.
The artistry of Pam Cabañas, a resident of Friendship, will also be on view in a solo exhibition. Cabañas presents compelling, large-scale diptychs on panel, offering an intimate exploration of the unique shore formations that define the coast and islands of her beloved Friendship. Also on view are Cabañas’ powerful charcoal drawings inspired by the heart of Maine's lobster industry, alongside exquisite, one-of-a-kind wall-mounted pieces crafted in high-fire porcelain. Through intricate “sgraffito” techniques, these porcelain works depict imagery deeply emblematic of the Maine coast.
Art enthusiasts are warmly invited to an opening reception on Friday, June 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists, mingle with fellow art lovers, and enjoy the inspiring artwork in a festive atmosphere. Light refreshments will be served.
The gallery is located at 1 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free.
