Call her ‘the Deputy’
Becky Bartolotta is going to be wearing a lot of hats pretty soon.
The former town employee is returning to the fold after an absence of 18 years on Feb. 29 to take on the positions of deputy tax collector, deputy treasurer, deputy Town Clerk, and deputy Registrar.
Bartolotta said her duties will be similar to what she had done in her previous tenure, from 1994-1998.
“But of course, so much has changed. It’s been almost 20 years — I’m hoping it will all come back!” she said with a laugh. After leaving in 1998, she worked for Damariscotta Police Department for a decade as an administrative assistant, then joined her old boss, Todd Brackett, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office where she was one of his assistants and was in charge of civil processing. With teenage daughters in school, however, she wanted to work in town, and came back to take a job at Hagar Enterprises as assistant to the financial controller in 2011.
She’s very happy to be returning to work for the town. She expects to be doing customer service, registering people to vote, registering vehicles, licensing dogs, and working with vital statistics like birth records and marriage licenses. She’ll also lend a hand with elections.
“I really like running into people I know from my time working for the town in the stores, or in the bank,” she said. “I’m a people person. And I’ll already know almost everyone.”
Bartolotta will have been married 25 years in August to Sal Bartolotta, who works for Great Salt Bay Sanitary District, and she has three now-adult daughters. “We also have two dogs, Fenway and Maya, and an orange tiger cat, Murphy,” she said. The Bartolottas in Bremen.
