Calling all creative spirits
The popular Student Scholarship Fundraiser and fine art sale Art In The Square will open Friday, Nov. 23. This is the seventh year of the event.
To participate, stop by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, register and pick up a 12-inch by 12-inch all media canvas (if you sell a painting and want to enter another you can do so. You can display four pieces at a time. If you sell any, you can replace them in the display).
Past events have featured art created in oils and acrylics, watercolors, felted wool, mixed media collage and 3D.
Members fee is $5 and non-members fee is $8 per entry. Your art will help to support the Student Art Scholarship Fund. This is a fun and exciting event for the creators of art as well as the purchasers.
Every finished canvas is offered for sale at one uniform price of $100. The artist receives 75 percent of this back for each sale and 25 percent goes into the fund. The deadline for completed art is November 20 at 12 p.m. (It is fine to bring finished work to the Art Foundation up to that time.)
The show opens on November 23 at 10 a.m. and will be open every weekend through the holiday season, ending on January 6. A highlight of this event is the gala reception held on Sat., December 1, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Art Foundation. This reception is a wonderful part of the Harbor Lights Festival.
