Cameron Reny for State Senate

Mon, 04/18/2022 - 2:45pm

    Dear Editor:

Anyone who has been paying attention to state government news and reading her thoughtful essays in the Boothbay Register knows what an outstanding job Chloe Maxmin has done for all of us in Senate District
    13. Thank you for your service, Senator Maxmin!

Although Chloe will be stepping down from her work in Augusta, she is mentoring Cameron Reny of Round Pond to be our next Senator in November. Cameron is uniquely qualified to address issues and make policy for families and working people in our area. She grew up in a hardworking family in Lincoln County, has served as a guidance counselor for public middle school students and their families, and is now raising two children of her own here.

One of Cameron’s priorities is to increase affordable housing opportunities for young working people in the Midcoast region. Their skills are desperately needed here. We must reverse the “brain drain” that often plagues rural counties. Cameron will fight for our traditional occupations — commercial fishing, carpentry, masonry, farming, and forest products — while incentivizing businesses to invest in renewable, clean energy sources. This will create high-paying, high-tech jobs for our high school and college graduates.

Cameron deserves our votes in the June primary and general election this November. She is forward thinking and rooted in family and educational values. Please join Senator Maxmin, Representative Stover, and Representative Crafts in supporting Cameron Reny as our next State Senator.

    Bill Hammond
