CEI executive discusses Brunswick move tonight
Coastal Enterprises’ (CEI) upcoming move to Brunswick will be a topic at the June 17 meeting of the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen. CEI Chief Executive Officer Ronald Phillips is on the agenda to discuss the move. Phillips has said the nonprofit will be putting its three downtown Wiscasset buildings on the market, but will be keeping about five jobs, possibly more in town.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda are the board’s selection of a new chairman and new vice chairman. It’s the board’s first meeting since the June 10 election that put William Barnes and Benjamin Rines Jr. on the board and kept Jeff Slack on the board. Incumbent Judith Colby and past selectman David Nichols lost their bids.
The board will also consider raising the transfer station’s tipping fees on lumber, from the current one cent per pound, to four cents per pound. Station Superintendent Ron Lear is making the request to cover increased costs, according to his memo to the board.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the municipal building’s meeting room.
