It’s the holiday season, and Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater is pleased to present a free sing-along event with its showings of Judy Garland’s “Meet Me in St. Louis” on the big screen. The film features classic songs such as “Skip To My Lou,” the Oscar nominated “The Trolley Song,” and the holiday classic “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Song sheets will be provided.

This four-time Academy Award nominated film is ranked 10th among the American Film Institute’s Greatest Movie Musicals of all time. Capturing a year in the life of the Smith Family leading up to the historical World’s Fair, the film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

It is St. Louis, 1903 and the well-off Smith family has four beautiful daughters, including Esther (Judy Garland) and little Tootie (Academy Juvenile Award winning, Margaret O’Brien). Seventeen-year old Esther has fallen in love with John, the boy next door who has just moved in. He, however, barely notices her at first. The family is shocked when Mr. Smith reveals that he has been transferred to a nice position in New York, which means that the family must leave St. Louis and the St. Louis Fair.

Please join in this fun-for-the-whole family, Thursday, Dec. 20 at 2 and 7 p.m. Don’t miss this chance to see Judy Garland on the big screen and share some holiday cheer with your family and neighbors.
