CLC YMCA kicks off 2016 Annual Fund Drive
The CLC YMCA has announced the launch of its 2016 annual fund drive, themed, The Y. For a better us. The funds raised through the annual drive, support community members in need by giving scholarships for a youth to play sports, a child to attend preschool, or an adult to stay active for a year.
Meagan Hamblett, CLC Y’s CEO, says, “The annual fund creates scholarships for individuals and families so no one is turned away due to his or her inability to pay. This is just one way that our organization responds to the community, supporting families and providing opportunities for individuals to live healthier lives.
She added, "We’re especially pleased to announce the Wajer family as this year’s Fund Chairs. Not only have they been strong leaders in our community, but also they are true examples of a Y family through the selfless hours of volunteerism they have given over the years. We are grateful for their leadership and support.”
CJ and Chrissy Wajer, and their three children, Alexandria, Ethan, and Brie, are the Y’s 2016 Fund Chairs. CJ is a soccer coach at Lincoln Academy, Booster volunteer and past Y soccer and basketball coach. Chrissy currently serves as vice chair of the Lincoln Academy Board of Trustees and is incoming board president, has been a volunteer coach, president of the PTA and a troop leader.
Alexandria is living in York, Maine and works for Senator Susan Collins. As a youth, she participated in Y soccer and basketball, and later volunteered as a Y coach and soccer and basketball referee. Ethan lives in Newcastle, owns his own business, and is a soccer coach in South Bristol. As a youth, Ethan played soccer and basketball at the Y, and also coached and refereed. Brie is a student scholar and athlete at Lincoln Academy. She serves as a youth member on the CLC YMCA Board of Directors and was recently honored with the Y’s 2016 Youth Development Award.
Chrissy Wajer says, “The Y does so much to strengthen our community and has meant so much to our family. We are proud to lead the Y’s 2016 Annual Fund Drive.”
