Clinic expands walk-in hours
In response to high patient demand and the threat of a bad influenza season, the Walk-In Clinic at Brunswick Station (22 Station Ave.) will now remain open for an additional two hours each weekend day.
The new operating hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including holidays (except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day).
“Over the summer we saw a high percentage of patients who were visiting from out of the area and recognized the need for expanded hours,” said Joan Ouellette, Mid Coast Primary Care & Walk-In Clinic Practice Manager. “Now that we’ve been identified as a valuable resource for healthcare in our region, we will continue to accommodate the needs of the community by increasing availability of our services.
“The Walk-in Clinic opened in August 2011 and has seen over 11,000 patients to date,” Outlette said.
The Mid Coast Walk-In Clinic at Brunswick Station offers expert care for minor medical problems such as cuts, sprains, coughs, and infections, as well as X-ray and laboratory testing. Emergencies such as chest pain, burns, broken bones and excessive bleeding should be treated in the Emergency Department and for life threatening concerns, by calling 911.
“The best way to stay healthy is to have a primary care physician who will provide regular check-ups, keeping larger health concerns at bay,” Ouellette said. “But if it’s after hours, or your primary care doctor is unavailable, the Mid Coast Walk-In Clinic is an excellent option for expert care and a less expensive alternative to emergency room treatment.”
