Coastal Rivers welcomes new trustees

Thu, 10/28/2021 - 8:15am

Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust members recently voted in a slate of four new trustees earlier this month. Kathy Leeman, Dennis McKenna, Gordon Morrell, and Ellen Wells were all elected, joining 13 current trustees including Bob Barkalow, Mary Berger, Jack Boak, Margaret Coit, Sandi Day, Mike Kane, Tom Kronenberger, Martha Lynch, Carolyn McKeon, Peter McKinley, Matthew Newman, Joel Russ and Joy Vaughan.

At the same time, Coastal Rivers bade farewell to seven long-time trustees whose terms had come to an end: Tom Field, George Keyes, David Lawrence, Joan Panek, Barnaby Porter, Normand Saucier and Tamara Stock. All seven had served through the unification of Damariscotta River Association and Pemaquid Watershed Association that resulted in the formation of Coastal Rivers in 2019, and each contributed to the board in valuable ways.

Collectively, the four newly-elected board members bring to the board a wealth of experience in local land conservation, wildlife habitat and ornithology, education, community connections, and area history. They also share a passion for Coastal Rivers’ mission: Caring for the lands and waters of the Damariscotta-Pemaquid Region by conserving special places, protecting water quality, creating trails and public access, and deepening connections to nature through education programs.
