Coastal Senior College launches new singing activity group
In addition to the opportunity to enroll in a variety of courses during Coastal Senior College’s Fall, Winter and Spring terms, CSC members are invited to participate in several Monday Activities groups free of charge. The newest Activity group, called Any Body Can Sing, is led by Susan Borg at the Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Community Hub, 38 Elm St. in Damariscotta, on the third Monday of each month, beginning on April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is required.
Each meeting will begin with familiar songs, sung in unison, chosen to fit the theme of the month. Then participants will sing some easy songs in parts, and finish up with a piece that has a little challenge to it. April’s theme will be birds. Songs will include “Blackbird” by the Beatles, “A River of Birds” chant, Peter, Paul and Mary’s “Autumn to May,” and more.
No musical experience is necessary. Experienced singers are warmly welcomed as well. Choral director Susan Borg offers helpful pointers about comfortable singing as the songs go along. All voices are welcome exactly as they are. One may be surprised by what their voice can do when it is supported by a singing community.
Further information about CSC membership and registration for the Any Body Can Sing activity is available at coastalseniorcollege.org.
