Collision ejects motorcyclist from bike
On Friday, Nov. 2, Andrew Wheeler, 39, of Boothbay, and Joshua Zehm, 47, of Edgecomb, were involved in a collision in front of the Irving station on Route 27 in Boothbay Harbor.
Wheeler had been traveling northbound on a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle on Route 27. Zehm, in a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, began making a left-hand turn into the Irving parking lot in front of Wheeler and the two collided.
Police Chief Bob Hasch said Wheeler was “ejected” from the motorcycle. Boothbay Region Ambulance Service personnel were called to the scene and transported Wheeler to St. Andrews Hospital.
Neither the ambulance service or hospital could comment on whether LifeFlight had been called.
Boothbay Harbor Police Department Officers Fred Hutchings and Nick Upham responded to the 5:48 p.m. call within two minutes time. Hasch arrived 10 to 15 minutes later.
Zehm was issued a ticket for lack of insurance.
Hasch said the police had examined the scene and interviewed witnesses and that the investigation was ongoing.
Information on Wheeler's condition was not available.
