Create an Indian Curl storage basket
Today, basket weaving is a creative and fun craft that produces baskets that are both practical and charming, involving various levels of skill and techniques. Come to Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main Street in Damariscotta and learn how to create and weave an Indian Curl Storage Basket. The Center’s second summer basket weaving workshop will be led by Marè Lemay will take place on Tuesday, August 7 and 14 from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. The basket will be making has a round reed woven bottom. The finished basket is 11" tall and the base is 7 ½”.
Pre-registration is required as seating is limited and supplies need to be ordered. Registration deadline is August 3. To register, call 563-1363. A supply list detailing items that participants will need to bring to the workshop will be provided at that time. Materials and class fee $20. Remember great satisfaction comes from making something with one’s hands.
