Damariscotta chamber open next two Saturdays
The Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce will open its office at 67A Main Street, Newcastle, the next two Saturday, July 25 and Aug. 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This new pilot program is in response to recent requests from chamber members to make visitor information available beyond weekday hours.
“We strive to make information about the region and our members available to visitors so they can enjoy the variety of shops, restaurants, services, activities and places to visit,” said Marva Nesbit, president of the chamber board. “We hope extending the hours to include Sat will expand our reach.”
Members of the chamber board will be available at the chamber office at 67A Main Street, Newcastle, to answer questions and offer suggestions for enjoying all the region has to offer. They will review the traffic statistics at their Aug. 7 meeting to determine if these extended hours should be continued during the rest of the summer season.
Currently 2015 Region Guides are available for visitors in a brochure display next to the front door of the chamber making them accessible twenty-four hours a day, but the extended hours will give visitors access to member brochures and business cards as well as answers to their individual questions about the region. This is a service which has long been provided from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, but which will now be expanded to include these additional weekend hours.
